We stand behind the printed book as an object, never behind the advice printed inside it, and what we owe you stops at the price of the order. The 4 parts below say the same thing at more length, and none of them takes away a right the Refund and Returns Policy gives you.

You are buying a printed book, with everything that means

What we vouch for. 4 things: the ISBN and the format on the product page, the page count printed there, and a new copy from a licensed US wholesaler. That is the list.

What the publisher decides. The cover art between printings, the paper stock, the exact shade of the jacket and any misprint inside. A cover that differs from the photo because the publisher reissued it is not a fault; a copy with a missing signature is a fault, and the returns page covers it.

What the author decides. Every recipe, every planting date and every stitch count, and none of it was tested by us. A cookbook's oven times were written for the author's oven; a canning chapter is the author's method, and pressure-canning safety comes from the USDA tables, not from a page we sell; a pattern's yarn weight and hook size are the designer's, and gauge is yours to check. The product page is a summary written by us, not the publisher's blurb.

You get a delivery estimate, not a promise

The estimate. 3 to 9 business days from the day you order, in the Shipping Policy, built from 1 to 3 business days of handling, then 2 to 6 with USPS. Bad weather, a USPS service alert, a federal holiday or a title sold through at the wholesaler can stretch it. Your rights do not stretch.

What stays open. You can still cancel before dispatch, and the replacement or refund routes for a lost parcel stay open; USPS moves the parcel, we do not, and the tracking page tells you where a slow parcel sits. Late is still coming. Lost is replaced or refunded, and that rule is written on the shipping page, not here.

You can claim up to the price of the order, and no more

The ceiling. What that 1 order cost you, books and shipping together. Inside it: a wrong book, a damaged book, a lost parcel, a refund owed to you. Outside it: a spoiled batch of jam, a frost-killed bed, a sweater 2 sizes off, time spent, or any loss that follows from using what a book says.

What the law keeps. Rights the law gives you are untouched, and where a state law forbids a cap, the cap does not apply to you. This is a bookshop. The worst thing we can do to you is send the wrong book or fail to send it, and both of those are put right in full; what happens in your kitchen or garden after you follow a page is outside what a $23.99 sale can carry.

You see the date at the top change when this page does

The "Last updated" line moves when the wording does, and the version that applies is whichever was live on the day you ordered; the old wording is not kept online. When a rule changes, the shipping page and the returns page change in the same edit as this page, and nothing here is posted in the small hours to catch anyone out. Questions about any of it go to the desk below, where they get an answer within 1 business day.
